Authorities in Beijing are adopting an innovative approach to promote recycling. Machines are being installed in public areas, including subway stations, schools and bus stops, where one can deposit plastic bottles in return for rewards in the form of mobile phone minutes or transportation credit.

Recycle N Save is a Joint Initiative by F&N and NEA and supported by FairPrice to place 50 Smart Reverse Vending Machines across Singapore by March 2020 to encourage recycling of used plastic drink bottles and aluminium drink cans amongst Singaporeans.

RECYCLED COTTON AND POLYESTER is a effective way to reduce waste since the yarn is a combination of post consumer plastic bottles and fabric cut-offs. coloured after spinning and there is no need for dyeing the fabric. This is an excellent alternative to virgin petroleum.

Materials engineer Nzambi Matee has started a company in her native Kenya manufacturing paving bricks made from plastic waste and sand that are cheaper, stronger, and more durable than concrete or similar bricks. For her efforts, Matee was named a Young Champion of the Earth by the United Nations.
